Famous Babies and Drug-Naming Ladies

Ever wonder where generic drug names come from? One California resident did, and the LA Times looked into it this week. It turns out that while the bigwig prescription drug names are often chosen by large marketing firms, the generics are decided by a two-woman team. We love ourselves a two-woman team (šŸ˜‰), and these ladies seem good at what they do. Stephanie Shubat and Gail Karet are responsible for nearly all the generic drug names in the country. And their job involves some serious strategy. ā€œThose names in parenthesesā€ may seem bland, but theyā€™re deliberately that way. While the drug companies want their brand names to connote positivity and emotion, Shubat and Karetā€™s main priority is making sure their generic name choices have no association to the brand at all. Shubat shares that she sometimes turns to license plates and the names of pets for ideas. Who knew?

In celebrity baby name news, Chelsea Clinton and husband Marc Mazvinksy welcomed their third child, Jasper Clinton Mazvinsky, who joins siblings Charlotte and Aiden. Though the name Jasper is a little unexpected alongside Charlotte and Aiden, we think it fits well into the family. Congratulations!

Fatherly published a list of their favorite online baby name generators this week. Some of these were new to us, and others are old Ava to Zeke stand-bys.

Someone who might be testing out those name generators soon is Anne Hathaway, who recently announced her pregnancy on Instagram with this gorgeous belly bump pic.

Already mom to son Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman, Hathaway, 36, and husband Adam Shulman, 38, are expecting #2 in the next few months. Of course, weā€™re already speculating as to what she and her husband may name their next child. Though the sex hasnā€™t been announced, we think that they may go with a traditional baby name to match the family unit of classic names: Anne, Adam, and Jonathan. Weā€™re thinking maybe Hannah, Miriam, or Leah for girls, and for boys, Ezra, Isaac, or Samuel; all traditional but not overly popular names with Jewish ties that honor Shulmanā€™s side of the family.

What do you think? Will they go traditional again? Will they honor family members like they did with Rosebanks?

In other celebrity pregnancy news, Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia is pregnant with her first child, via IVF. She also happily shared this news on her Instagram.

Iā€™m very happy to announce that I have just signed a record deal with BMG!! What an AMAZING team. I have been busy writing for the past year and a half and canā€™t wait to share these new songs with you all!!!! And as you can see from the pic.. there is another announcement… (no I havenā€™t swallowed a watermelon). Iā€™m expecting my first child this Autumn. For those of you that know me, this has been something I have wanted for a very long time and Iā€™m blessed that this is possible with the help of IVF and a sperm donor-I wonā€™t be saying anything more on that publicly. Iā€™m so excited about this next adventure… a new album and Iā€™m going to be a mum! šŸŽ¶šŸ¤°šŸ»šŸŽ‰šŸ˜ā¤ļøāœØ

Since this is her first, we have no idea what style she might favor for the baby’s name, but weā€™ll be keeping our eyes out when she announces it. Our only hope is that we wonā€™t feel ā€œTornā€ about her selection!
