It’s May the fourth, and you know what that means: It’s Star Wars Day! We’re celebrating by sharing some of our favorite Star Wars name lists that we’ve done in the past. But that’s not all! We’re also going to add in some new names from a Galaxy Far, Far Away as well as doing a bit of a deep dive into other lesser-known Star Wars baby names that you may not have heard of before.

First, let’s check out some of our previous lists. First, we have our Best of . . . Star Wars Baby Names list, with old favorites Luke and Leia and new rising stars like Cassian, Rey, and Qi’ra. Then we have a more eclectic list of Star Wars Baby Names No One Is Using Yet. These names are inspired by the people and places found in Star Wars, names that will be familiar to the hardcore fan, but might not make the radar of casual viewers or those unfamiliar. We think there are some real gems here, such as Eisley, Endora, and Ren.

Missing from these lists, however, are Star Wars baby names from the newer shows that came out after we wrote our first two lists. The big one is the popular Disney+ show, The Mandalorian. With and Obi-Wan and Cassian Andor show in the works for 2022, and a slew of other properties on the way, there will no doubt be more interesting names coming to us in the future, but for now, here are a select few to check out!

Aayla

Jedi Master Aayla Secura was a Twi’lek Jedi Master who, many years after her death, would lend her voice and inspiration to Rey in her battle to defeat the clone of the dead Emperor Palpatine. The name has many meanings, including “oak tree” or “moonlight.” It is more commonly spelled Ayla.

Antoc

Antoc Merrick served as a Rebel general and starfighter. He also personally lead the X-wing unit, Blue Squadron. The name Antoc doesn’t appear to have a set meaning, but it may derive from the name Antioch. Antioch was an Ancient Greek city, and was also the name of a number of Syrian kings. The name means “resistant; holding out against.”

Barriss

Barriss Offee was a Mirialan Jedi who grew dissatisfied with the Jedi order and orchestrated the bombing of the Jedi Temple. The name Barris (spelled with one s) comes from the Welsh and means son of Harry. It can also be spelled Baris (from Turkish), and means “peace.”

Cara

Alderaanian shock trooper, Cara Dune, played a big role in The Mandalorian, joining forces with Din Djarin to protect the precious Baby Yoda, Grogu. This simple and sweet name means “beloved friend.”

Cobb

Cobb Vanth, played with swagger by Timothy Olyphant on The Mandorian, was the marshal of the Tatooine town, Mos Pelgo. In exchange for the help of Mando, he gave up Boba Fett’s armor, which he wore as the outpost’s law enforcer. The surname name Cobb is a variant of the ever-popular Jacob, and means “supplanter.”

Fennec

This vulpine name that means “fox” is also the name of skilled bounty hunter–and Boba Fett’s right hand– Fennec Shand. Nature-lovers with a sly style may love this unisex name for a child of their own.

Gideon

The imposing Moff Gideon was the “big bad” of The Mandalorian and endangered Baby Yoda for nefarious purposes. The name, however, is not so dark and dangerous. It is an Old Testament name, and it means “woodsman” or “hewer.”

Kit

Kit Fisto was a Nautolan Jedi Master and expert swordsman. The name Kit is unisex diminutive name for Christopher or Katherine. It is very on-trend now with other nickname names that are rising in use now, such as Theo, Gus, and Coco.

Omera

An Arabic name that means “to build, to enliven,” it is often spelled Omara or Omaira. In The Mandalorian, Omera was a widow and expert markswoman who helped defend her village against a group of raiders.

Paige

A name meaning “page to a lord,” this unisex name has more commonly been given to girls in the 20th and 21st century. In The Last Jedi, we were introduced to rebel gunner Paige Tico, who bravely lost her life in an explosion that helped the remaining rebel fleet escape from the First Order.

Rex

A clone captain in the Grand Army of the Republic, Rex was able to escape the fate of many of his fellow clones who were ordered to kill all the Jedi. This regal name means “king” and hits a lot of popular sweet spots for parents with modern naming sensibilities.

Sabé

The name of one of Queen Amidala’s decoys and handmaidens, Sabé (sɑ’beɪ) went on to investigate her queen’s death after the end of the clone wars. A little bit Sade and a little bit Sabine, this name has a mysterious elegance that might work wonderfully on a modern day child.
